TOP 10 BOOKS FOR BABY’S NURSERY

July 11, 2018

TOP 10 BOOKS FOR BABY’S NURSERYbooks for baby's nursery

Preparing your baby’s nursery is a right of passage for new parents and something that allows you to start making connections and building a bond with your unborn baby well before they arrive and you get to meet your little one.

I remember I started ‘nesting’ quite early in my pregnancy (probably around the 20 week mark after that oh so very important scan). I’m a little bit of an organisational freak and I knew that these things take time and before you know it the baby would be here and I would have limited time to meander over minute things such as placement of furniture in the room!

This hot air balloon is the piece I treasure the most. Not only is it absolutely magical but it holds extra importance as my mother bought it for my daughter. It’s a special gift from her Nini that she can look at every day as she drifts off to sleep. We bought it when we were out together gathering things for the nursery prior to my daughters arrival. My mother flew over from Canada to spend time with me when I was heavily pregnant and it was such wonderful support to have as I was finishing my final preparations for bubs arrival.

When planning our daughter’s nursery, one thing I was very intentional about were the books I selected to build her library. Being a primary school teacher, I had many picture books already in my collection but I didn’t have any baby books per se. I knew I wanted timeless good quality literature that we could read again and again. Sturdy board books with simple text that would engage all of us during story time with illustrations that would captivate her little mind. I wanted the books to be stories that could grow with us, as her reading needs evolve. Click here to read about the many benefits of reading with your baby.
